The Sum of the Parts: Graphic Score Series
Create a series of images that then become "one work" or an installation.

For this assignment, I wanted to create a visual playlist by pulling inspiration from John Cage's graphic notation. The goal was to experiment with chance and uncertainty by using both physical and digital mark making processes. I listened to the song Gold by kiiara on repeat for a few days and created 10 pieces for my series. Each may be viewed on their own because each seem to focus on certain moments throughout the song that stuck out to me. I created these notations by using Illustrator where I first used the brush tool and would apply various strokes/brushes/sizes/styles to the mark after making it letting the undeterminancy take control of the turnout and not allowing much ctrl+z. Then after I created the score to my liking, I printed it out and then made physical marks over top using a gold translucent paint to highlight the strong points with in the piece and reflect over the song. By viewing the works as one whole piece, it could almost be read as one entire score for the song, but truthfully it is a series in which each piece can converse with one another and be compared to the others thus allowing the viewers to piece it together however they chose.
I included the song for those that would like to listen to it while viewing the series.  ☺
